Abu Dhabi Heritage Village

Abu Dhabi Heritage Village

My personal highlight for Abu Dhabi was definitely the Heritage Village.  A kind of open-air museum, it actually did a very nice job of presenting the traditional cultures of the Emirates without feeling tacky.  Exhibits included examples of traditional architecture, crafts, and lifestyles.  This place was easily the best part of what I found to be an otherwise pretty unremarkable city.

And of course, Camels!

I’ve been to Abu Dhabi several times, both as an independent traveler and while working as a photographer for GetYourGuide. Though most of the tourist sites are pretty accessible on public transit (for the Heritage Village, take any of a number of busses to the Marina Mall and walk over from there) those on a tight schedule might want to check out GetYourGuide or their Abu Dhabi Hop On/Off Bus which can simplify things significantly.
