Myanmar Travel Words

Conversation with the man in Orange

“Sit down, I would like to talk to you.  Where you from?  America?!  I would like to know about your Obama.”

“Do you know what is the ‘Tri-Lateral Commission’ in your country?  IT is all the richest businessmen and politicians, lead by people like your Vice-President Dick Cheney.  They have made many problems in the world, and sell weapons to promote wars and get rich.  Any of your Presidents who work for peace: Mr. Clinton, Mr. Nixon, John F. Kennedy, have all seen the wrong side of your Tri-Lateral Commission.  Some countries, the Sudan, the East Timor have been freed by the United Nations and its soldiers.”

“In Myanmar we do not have U.N. soldiers because out government, they give oil to the Tri-Lateral Commission so the U.N. does not come here.  For China, Myanmar is its kitchen.  Our leaders give to China many minerals, much wealth, and so China does not come here to Myanmar to make problems with the generals.  The only we could ever be at peace in our country if the U.N. sends its soldiers, like in East Timor.”

“I listen many times every day to radio broadcasts from Singapore, Britain, France.  Every day I pray for calm in the Middle East, because if your Tri-Lateral Commission can get its oil for wars from the Middle East, they would not need oil from our generals and so maybe they will allow the United Nations to send its soldiers to help us here.  There are many people who have different ideas for how Myanmar can be free, but I think this is the only way.”

“In Myanmar, it is dangerous to be political.  Already five times I have been sent to jail.  I last became free in early 2010, and now the government tells the people not to give me any food or donation.  Those who give me food, the government sends people to say bad things about them, bad things about their businesses; and so they lose money.  Maybe you could help me with a donation.  Some dollars to pay for food?  No?  When you return to your country, then, you can tell people about Myanmar.  About your Tri-Lateral Commission, and about how the only way we will have peace in Myanmar is with soldiers from the United Nations.
