“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
I don’t recall any country I’ve been to that embodies this quote quite as much as Myanmar. Myanmar: the country where it takes forever to get there, but at least you have some fun on the way!
The government, restrictive as it is, restricts foreign travel on a lot of the roads through the country, especially in border areas. The first place I tried to go after leaving Yangon is one of these places. After trying from four different cities to get a bus to Mrak U, I finally gave up and headed up to Bagan. Somewhere during the course of that effort, though, I realized that strange but interesting things kept happening on all these rides.
So, over the next few days: “Journey as Destination.”
