Prelude to Mexico

Posted by on September 4, 2010

As a pit stop from Asia, I came back to the US for about two months.  As a vacation from that, I decided to go to Mexico for two and a half weeks to visit two fraternity brothers who were back home for the summer.  Oscar had invited me to visit while we were still in college, and Jenny and I decided it was due time to follow up on that invite.

After visiting San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, and Guanajuato we traveled to San Miguel.  Where I lost my camera.  Awesome things happened in Zacatecas and Guanajuato, but unfortunately I have no pictures of them.

Shortly before we were to go to Mexico City, the drug fighting there intensified and we decided it was probably a bad idea.  As we were supposed to go to the Cave of Swallows (you know… the one from the opening scene of Planet Earth: Caves where they’re BASE-jumping into the mouth) the region started flooding, and Oscar’s dad decided it was probably a bad idea.

What all this means is that it was a great time, but that I need to go back to revisit Guanajuato for pictures and to make it to the Cave and Mexico City!
