Listen, I’m every bit as surprised as you are. As it turns out, I’ll be in Armenia for most of July, exploring more or less the entire country and trying to make sense of how to access the best of it in a short time. It’ll be my first visit – though not my first trip to the Caucasus, where I’ve previously traveled briefly in both Georgia and Azerbaijan. Needless to say, very excited!

I’ll start, of course, in Yerevan – capital of the country and perhaps more importantly home to the international airport. I reckon it’s a good base to get my bearings – start with a walking tour, off to some churches in the countryside, and perhaps some longer trips just in the first few days in the country.

From there, time to get out into the countryside.
